The Safety Skirts
have gone back to the grind after a brief break and they're raring to go!
Listen and Learn: We recorded some of our newest songs (and some old favorites)
recently during rehearsal
and have slapped some samples up on the website for
your listening enjoyment.
Web Exclusive: If you've ever been to see us live, you know that one song always
hits the audience where it hurts...in the top 40 gut. We recorded it and the
entire song is available for listening here on our site. Watch out- it might
just tear up your heart, but you'll want us back! Oh, and you'll have to join
the frequent fan club to find out how to get
the song...it's really quite painless actually.
Shows: We are currently trolling the depths of the Seattle music scene for some
shows. We know that you know people (or are people) that know about getting
shows and whatnot. Any ideas? E-mail Michele at thesafetyskirts@hotmail.com.
Life: Take it easy! It's not all up to you! Eat some ice cream!

Where have all The Safety Skirts gone? Long time passing...
Well, we've had a bit of a hiatus (I love that word!) as our dear drummer Lizzy has been having her own little Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp. She is playing bass with Susan Robkin (www.susanrobkin.com), Seattle singer/songwriter extraordinaire, on her upcoming major release. She went to the right coast and enjoyed working with producers and musicians she's grown up admiring. (For details, check out www.lizzydaymont.com) She'll be doing one more little jaunt to Woodstock and then she's back for awhile. Yeah for Lizzy! She's the crap!
Becca has been keeping uber-busy having moved to a swank new place (which she will rock like a freakin' hurricane) and going to HIIIIIYAAA (read: kung-fu) several times a week.
I've been dabbling with some stand-up and will be performing at a comedienne showcase at the Comedy Underground on March 25th. E-mail me via thesafetyskirts@hotmail.com, if you want details. I also have the germ of a book idea that will blow your mind's...mind.
So the band is rehearsing again and we're scouring the city for some rockin' gigs. Also, we're gearing up to record again. I vote for turning up the grrr factor on my voice... Oh, and we're putting the full EP4300 song on the Music page. Take a listen!
Keep your chin up! You've only got 30-40 more years to go!
Michele

HAPPY HOLLY-DAYS!
Best wishes to you and yours this glorious season of whatnot and whoop-dee-hoo!
The Safety Skirts wish you a happy holiday season and a bright, healthy New
Year!
THE TABLET CONTINUES TO LIKE US...GO FIGURE!
The good folks at the Tablet have asked our opinions on a number of pertinent
issues and will publish them along with some other fine local music people (i.e.
John Richards, club bookers, other bands) in this week's issue. Pick it up at
your local snooty coffee shop or check it out online at: www.tabletnewspaper.com.
(They're including a picture of Michele. Cross your fingers that they Photo
Shopped out the hump!)
GIGS!
We're playing the lovely Stanwood Hotel Tavern on January 17th with the second
cutest band in Seattle- The Riffbrokers! If you don't know where Stanwood is,
go to Mapquest and type
in "po-dunk".
MESSAGE BOARD
We have a nifty message board that's sort of going to pot, so I'm going to stir
up a little controversy by suggesting a topic to get things going. Star Wars...sucks.
Go to the Message
Board and discuss.

First, J-Lo gets engaged to the hunky Ben Aff-lack, then Michele takes a vacation and, now, The Safety Skirts are doing stuff? Someone check the temperature "down there"...
*THIS JUST IN! SOMEONE IN THE PRESS ACKNOWLEDGES THE SAFETY SKIRTS!*
In the recent Tablet, Dan Halligan gives an honest opinion of our new EP. He "digs" us. It's nice.
Check it out here.
*MUSIC GEEKS PLUS THEATER NERDS EQUALS LOVE! SHOW ALERT!*
We've been asked to play at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Open Circle Theater. They'll be having a twisted night of cabaret acts and then we'll be playing the after-party. It's next Thursday, December 12th (our dear Becca's birthday). The show starts at 8 and costs $10 or you can come just for our rawkin' selves at 9:45 for $5. The Open Circle Theater is located at 429 Boren Avenue North.
For more details, take a looksee here.
*REQUESTING SONGS IS COOL! REQUESTING SONGS IS COOL!*
KEXP is in possession of our EP and it's one of our wee goals to be played on their station (or, one of our larger goals, to play live on Audioasis). You can help by requesting us via phone (903-KEXP) or email (dj@kexp.org).
*STAR SIGHTINGS!*
While in NYC last week, Michele saw Snoop Dogg flash the "Westside" sign to a fan. She also saw Joey Fatone (of *NSYNC fame), Suzanne Pleshett (of Bob Newhart Show) and Gloria Ruben (of past ER fame). You jealous? You shouldn't be. (Except about the Snoop Dogg one. That one was dope, yo!)
9/26/02
*The Safety Skirts are rollin' like the Bizkit lately with the release of their new EP "We Wear The Pants". (available by writing to thesafetyskirts@hotmail.com)
*Also, we've been trolling the waters for some club dates. If any of you are bookers or bands, we're raring to play! And we'll bring snacks!
*Planets aligned and pigs flew last night when Michele bowled six strikes in a row at Ballard's Sunset Bowl. The end is near. Buy some batteries.
*Michele's had a spasm of creativity lately,
so we have three new songs in the works. To quote herself, Michele says the
songs "are the result of a cute boy, an error in judgment and a play."
Michele is nutty butter.
